great nation
without permission/
and no set agenda
i am on the road
O such an odyssey
(for an avid adventurer)
and those stricken with wanderlust
a get well prescription/
it is a great country to travel
it lies open
before me
stretches untended boundaries
beckoning…
little restriction/
no consternation
just me and 4 tires
on the pavement in our
Great Nation;
it is pleasing
to stop
at a middle of nowhere
Truckers Delight
half lit blink de blink
neon lights
the entrance sign…
an oasis of more or less hot food and kinda clean bathrooms
at least them is the words between the lines…
i sit and eat
propping my feet
on my dash
and watch them pull
in and out
big diesel
8 wheeled rigs
and all the while the
highway patrol looms…
throughout the night;
if you see
me pass
on
2 wheels or 4
(you see i brought my bike)
say a hello to me
a ‘hi Mike’
just to guess a name
give a nod if busy
or a back-handed wave
if you
wanna play that game;
i have no agenda
no thoughts of direction
just moving on down the road
as the wind takes
me
North South
East West
this land, it is all
heavenly perfection.
